Press Release, May 1st, 2008
Port Hope Predators Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club
A number of Port Hope Predators will be moving
on into the NCAA next season, two extending their hockey careers
as 20 year olds while pursuing an education with two others
making the jump into NCAA Hockey as 19 year olds.
The Port Hope Predators are very happy for all four player’s
that will be moving on this season while pursuing their hockey
and scholastic dreams. “We do not have a Triple AAA team to draw
from in Port Hope, so recruiting quality kids, on and off the
ice into our Jr. A hockey program determines our success each
season” said Director of Hockey/GM Tim Clayden “ a very big
commitment made by the Predators organization each year and in
our Club Mission Statement is to work just as hard off ice for
our players as they work on, promoting our players onto to the
next level of play is very important to us in Port Hope and that
especially includes NCAA University Hockey”
Each of the following players have been accepted into
the following programs:
Ben Finney NCAA DI Robert Morris University
Garrett Noiles NCAA DI Brown University
Gregg Amatto NCAA DIII Brockport University
Joey Christiano NCAA DIII Cortland University
“I am really happy for all our players, Ben works very hard off
the ice to stay in top physical condition all year, Joey is a
real good kid and was a very good late pick up for us and
Garrett chipped in nicely after joining our team at the mid-way
point of last season” stated the newly appointed Director of
Player Development and Advancement Brian Drumm “ Having Gregg
Amatto advance on into the NCAA is just such a great reward for
such an unselfish player” added Brian “Winning hockey games is a
priority in Port Hope and obviously helping our player’s move on
to the next level is too”
Joey Christiano added with some excitement “next year I am so
lucky to have an opportunity to continue to play hockey and
pursue my University studies at Cortland. The "Red Dragons" play
in the SUNYAC Division III Conference which is considered to be
one of the most competitive. I want to thank the coaches and
management in Port Hope as they did everything in their power to
help myself move on to the next level which I believe is why the
Predators are always successful and a great place to play”
“We expect this coming season to be our best ever in terms of
helping advance our players on in to the NCAA, McCarty, Miller,
Stone, Klassen, Tillaart, Moffat and Stoughton have all already
generated tremendous interest from an assortment of different
NCAA programs” said Clayden “We expect for many of our players
for next season to be their last at this level of play”
