Two new
Predators are enjoying the thrill of playing in Port
Hope.
The team recently acquired goaltender Richard Stine
as well as forward Garrett Noiles, and the pair have
wasted no time in making themselves at home in Port
Hope.
"It's a real nice town," said Stine of his new
surroundings. "(My teammates) have been really
welcoming. They've made this move a lot easier." Stine
has seen action in just one game so far, a 7-5 loss to
Kingston. Stine allowed six goals on 37 shots in the
loss, and acknowledges he has some adjustments to make
to the Ontario Junior A game.
"It's the same game, different play," he said. "It's
faster, grittier. There are a lot more skilled players.
The shots are coming in a little harder." Stine
describes himself as a goalie who loves to move the
puck, an element of his game he'll need to coordinate
with his new defensive corps.
As for Noiles, he has gotten off to a hot start with
four points in his first three games as a Pred. He got
his first taste of a Port Hope crowd on Sunday, Nov. 18,
when the team hosted their arch rivals, the Cobourg
Cougars.
"I'm having a lot of fun. It's the best arena I've
played in," said Noiles of the Jack Burger Sports
Complex. Like Stine, he has also noticed differences in
the Ontario game. "There's more room to finesse around."
Head coach Brian Drumm is happy to have the pair in
his lineup. "(Stine) comes with tremendous statistical
potential. (Noiles) handles the puck really well and
he's deadly around the net."
