Green Marketing Preds
Press Release: April 5, 2007
By: Doug
James
Ian Green has been promoted to the position of the
director of marketing for the Port Hope Predators. "Ian
Green has been a big supporter of our hockey club since day
one when we purchased the hockey club some seven years ago,"
stated Team Governor Sandy Smith.
"Ian's appointment as our director of marketing is
well-deserved and a positive community step forward for our
hockey club. We believe, with Ian's hands-on local guidance,
that the Predators are truly ready to make the next step
forward in the Town of Port Hope. We truly look forward to
Ian sharing his energetic enthusiasm for Predators
throughout the community as we strive to an entirely new
level of Port Hope Predators Jr.
Ian, known to his friends as Greener, is Port Hope's number
one sports aficionado. He can quote sports trivia, explain
in detail the history of his favourite teams and can
organize any team for any tournament occurring in the
province.
During the Predators' off-season he can be found supporting
his friends on Monday and Tuesday nights at Wladyka Park
while they play in the men's slo-pitch league and on
Wednesday night he is on the home team bench at Town Park
keeping score for the Port Hope Senior Flyers. Ian's
weekends are kept busy during the summer months organizing
baseball teams for tournaments played throughout the
province as well as travelling with the Flyers.
The marketing plans for the Predators are three-fold at this
point in time according to Ian. He plans to put together
advertising packages for businesses and fans that are more
community friendly and customized to their needs and plans.
Schools will be given special nights at the Complex and will
be visited by the team mascot, Bullseye. The players
themselves will take a more active role in the community by
participating in cleanups and offering their services to
seniors by helping around homes of the elderly doing chores
such as raking leaves.
"We want the guys from out of town to feel that they are
more part of the community," Green said. Ticket packages
have not been finalized yet but that is in the works. He
feels that there will be no increase in ticket prices.
"Come out and support us," concluded Green. "We will
support you and we will all work together."
Next on the agenda for Ian is helping to promote the spring
training camps.
