In a season that is sure to be full of surprises, the
Preds have added yet another and are headed north for a
visit to the land of this season's Ontario Provincial
Championship host team to play the NOJHL Abitibi Eskimos.
The Abitibi Eskimos are Hosting this year's Ontario
Championship Dudley Hewitt Cup and have invited the
Predators to a pre-season match up that is sure to be very
entertaining. "we love the opportunity to play Abitibi this
early " said Predators director of hockey, Tim Clayden " the
Eskimos have worked very hard for many seasons now and
deserve to be the
Host Team of this year's Provincial finals. We also hope
to learn something during our exhibition trip that will help
us with our own bid to Host the same Championship series in
Port hope in 2007 - 2008""it should be a great trip for our
hockey club as it gives our players an early opportunity to
get to know one another. We have many players this year from
across North America that are becoming teammates and friends
for the very first time and it is very important that we
take some time for our team to get to know one another.
Hockey is a great game, each year it seems that we make new
friends where some can last for a life time" stated
Predators Assistant GM, Ian Green. Game Time At The Igloo,
Iroquois Falls, ON Tuesday August 22 at 7:30 pm Port Hope
Predators vs. Abitibi Eskimos
Predators director of hockey, Tim Clayden added "it's a
great opportunity for our own team to spend some time
together, road trips are a big part of junior hockey and can
be a lot of fun. We will head out after our home game with
Kingston this Sunday afternoon and take some time to have a
few meals together and share a few good ol' hockey stories
before we arrive in Iroquois Falls for our game Tuesday
night" said Clayden"the NOJHL is underestimated and no team
in the Province this year should take the Eskimos lightly.
Abitibi has always had respectable hockey clubs and are due
to have a very big season.
There is no doubt that come spring time the Eskimos will
have a strong team that will be very difficult to beat. They
have great fans that give them a 2 goal head start each game
and a community that is behind their Eskimo Jr. A Hockey
Club and their management. If we can't get lucky enough to
make it back to Abitibi this spring we sure hope the Eskimos
can win it all as their entire community deserves it, we
just hope they take it easy on us this early in the
pre-season" For Port Hope Booster Club Information and
