As another season begins, Port Hope continues to advance
their players. The Predators would like to congratulate
17 year old 2005 - 2006 rookie sensation Corey Tamblyn
on receiving his recent offer from Clarkson University
of the NCAA and former long time home town crowd
favorite Dennis Sicard on accepting his NCAA DIII
scholarship to attend Buffalo State University this
upcoming season.
Dennis will be studying
Educational Foundations with a goal to pursue teaching in
the physical education field upon graduation. " we are
really happy for Dennis personally as he works extremely
hard on and off the ice" stated Preds director of hockey,
Tim Clayden " Dennis arguably was the fastest skating player
throughout the Eastern Division the past two seasons and a
middle weight that certainly challenged all as a league
heavy weight every night. We wish Dennis only the best of
success on and off the ice and a little more luck on all his
future break a-ways at Buffalo State" “My experience in Port
Hope was one that I will always remember" said Sicard "the
competitiveness and drive of my fellow team mates as well as
the support of the staff and volunteers, allowed me to
become the best player I could be. Winning the Division
Championship two years ago was the perfect reward for a
season of hard work. I was always overwhelmed by the support
of the Port Hope fans and was truly honored to receive the
award of Fan Favorite"
"I want to thank the
Predators ownership who are second to none and Tim Clayden
and John Johnson and my team mates for the opportunities
afforded to me and wish the Predators all the best this
season in their quest for another Championship. Playing and
winning junior A hockey games in Port Hope is a lot of fun
and the Predator fans make Port hope a great place to play
junior hockey" Coach Crashley commented on Corey Tamblyn's
most recent opportunity "Corey is the luckiest player in the
league today as he and his family now know the NCAA Clarkson
University program want him and are knocking on his door.
Now the OHL Sudbury Wolves will also have to step up in
order to sign this young man this year. We are really happy
for Corey and his family and wish him well" "we are not
surprised by Clarkson's offer as our coaching staff last
season pointed out Corey's D1 potential" added Predator
director of hockey, Tim Clayden.
"It is always nice to see and
hear that your program is helping players advance to the
next level Especially when we were only allowed to sign two
1989 born players last year, so it's real good to see that
our program is making some good choices. Corey will be
successful where ever he chooses to play, he's a good player
and a nice person too" The past two seasons, the Predators
are very proud to have now helped at least 8 players advance
to NCAA Division III programs and with Corey having an
opportunity at Clarkson University, it certainly suggests
the Predators program is moving in the right direction. The
Predators have also helped to promote 6 other players on
into Pro hockey. "we have a lot of work to do yet, NCAA
Division I Hockey is our goal and our next challenge which
we expect to reach before January of this season" said
Clayden "our program depends on our organization keeping the
promises that we make to the players that we are recruiting.
These kids and their parents are counting on our management
team to deliver and we are counting on our players to
deliver on winning hockey games. It's a pretty fair deal and
important to us to promote our kids each year to the highest
level of play, including the OHL, the NCAA and Pro hockey
for the over age Major Junior A players that decide to join
our program each season, it really works both ways and
creates a win, win for our players, for our organization and
for the Port Hope hockey community."
